Emulation
One of the strengths to some people of the Amiga as a computing platform was it’s ability to ’emulate’ other machines. This means that it was able to run software written for other machines as if you were using that other machine. This is covered in far more detail on this page: Emulating on the Amiga.
These days, with multi-core CPUs running at several GHz, most modern computing devices have the required computing power to emulate an Amiga computer, something that was considered impossible while the classic Amigas were still being produced.
